The dip dye look has been all over the map lately, from celebrity babes to runway models.
Early on, we noticed a lot of the trend followers keeping their dark roots (sorry, stylists!), instead of dying the whole head one colour, slowly fading out their old dye job. After a few months of growing, a third colour can even be added by gently bleaching the tips to add colour # 3 to the dip dye melange.
Rumi Neely, style blogger and model is a great example of dip dye done right. Her hair is layered too, which gives emphasis to the fading in the colour gradients since it happens gradually, just like the length of her hair.
Alexa Chung gets two thumbs up as well. She really maximized her short, messy bob-cut by keeping her natural waves and adding a little bit of blonde/brown at the ends to set off her dark base colour.
And for the brave… Nicki Minaj went her usual fearless route, fading from blonde to bright green – topped off with her signature baby-doll bangs and luxurious thickness and length.
