This new trend brings us back all the way to the 20’s. Glamourous, loveable and eye-catching! Seen all over the runways, rounded shoulders are the perfect way to add some flare and shape to any boring Fall outfit!
Take the Proenza Schouler Fall 2013 RTW collection (see below) for instance. This glamourous fall trend creates a new side of buisness-formal wear that makes us wonder why this new trend hasn’t come around sooner!
This trend may be inspired from vintage wear and the lovely roaring 20’s, but designers this season sure knew how to turn it around. Rounded shoulders have become a sort of avant-garde staple piece. So with the help of these very tailored and modern pieces, you can pair them off with simple bottoms. Pencil skirts, straight-legged trousers or even jeans!
As for shoes, as you may see above, the simple the better! Keep it to the minimal with a pair of plain flats (or pointed flats in the case of Proenza Schouler).
As an new approach to the very popular padded shoulders trend, rounded shoulders add a new sense of flow and shape. More soft, delicate and feminine. But just because its more delicate, doesn’t mean you should hold back on the edgy accessories! Make your own look by adding wide belts, hot wedges, ankle cuffs and whatever floats your boat!
The Veronique Leroy F/W 2013 collection sure did that! With bold baroque styled prints, simple trench coats and rocking black leather wedges, this collection screamed of personality, flare and avant-garde fashion!

Although this trend is geared more towards creating a more, sophisticated, mature and as Vogue said “authoritative” look, you can never go wrong with dressing down a rounded shoulder jacket or top – with a pair of jeans, and an adorable handbag!
