Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen have named their baby girl after a Disney Princess, Briar Rose.
The adorable moniker is a nod to the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty; sheltering Princess Aurora from Maleficent’s curse, the three fairies call the little girl Briar Rose. It’s also the name that was used in the original Grimm Brothers fairy tale in 1812.
According to Hello!Canada, Rachel and Hayden, both 33, have talking about starting a family some time now, and were “so excited” when they found out they were expecting.
“I definitely have family on the brain,” Rachel said in an interview with Cosmopolitan in May 2013. “Having kids is something I want to see in my future — I hope.”
Rachel’s Hart of Dixie c0-star Jamie King gushed to US Weekly about how great Rachel would be as a mother, “It’s a really celebratory time. I’m really thrilled and happy that she’s going to be on this next journey of her life,” she said at the Annenberg Space for Photography Exhibit Opening in L.A.
Furthermore, Jamie also noted Rachel often displayed maternal instincts when she would play with her baby son James on set.
According to US Weekly, the couple first met on set of the 2008 film Jumper and got engaged in December 2008. They quietly called off their engagement in August 2010, reconciling three months later.
