Fashion Recap: The 2013 Golden Globe Red Carpet

Welcome to Award Season! The only time of the year where the best of the best Hollywood stars get the chance to dress up and celebrate their achievements.

Down at the Beverly Hill Hilton hotel, the 70th Golden Globe Awards await as stars shine in their beautiful designer gowns. Either anxious for an award or just there to support fellow co-stars, countless A-list stars fill the red-carpet in the most glamourous ensembles possible. And in case you missed it, here’s a short recap:

Katherine Mcphee:

Looking sleek and chic, this “Smash” star shines in a very sexy black plunging gown. Showing off a thin leg under a very Angelina Jolie like leg slit, Katherine Mcphee plays up her sexuality and amazing body in this Theysken’s Theory dress. Might I add, this 23-year-old star finishes off with a very avant-garde pair of clear strapped stilettos! Loving this look on her!

Lucy Liu:

A very different approach to red-carpet style, this statement number by Carolina Herrera is definitely going to be either a love-hate dress. In my opinion, its a little overwhelming and too mature for her, but I give her all my respect for this unique ensemble.

Julianne Hough:

Ryan Seacrest’s girlfriend of 2 years, sparkles in this Monique Lhuillier princess gown.  Topped with a very rocker-chic hair-do, Julianne Hough (“Rock of Ages” actress) looks great! But here at Secrets of a Good Girl, we definitely would love to see this gorgeous blonde bombshell ditch the fairy tale and good-girl dresses and slightly lean towards the darker side of fashion. P.S. don’t forget your smile!

Taylor Swift:

There is no doubt that this country star looks ah-mazing! As a nominee for Best Original Song in The Hunger Games, Taylor Swift is rocking this beautiful backless Donna Karen dress.

Amy Poehler:

Don’t get me wrong, I love the whole suit trend thing on the red carpet. But as co-host to the 70th Golden Globes, I was a little disappointed. But Amy Poehler does look fantastic and I give points for effort. Though looking at it alone, this Stella McCartney blazer is gorgeous! Oh and lets not forgot to mention the shoes: one word – fabulous! Good luck tonight Amy!

Tina Fey:

Co-hosting along side Amy Poehler, Tina Fey looks adorable in her L’wren Scott strapless dress. I am obsessed with the mid calve length dress trend. It really does add a cute vibe to the entire look. To complete her outfit of the night, Salvatore Ferragamo pumps, Fred Leighton jewellery and a sparkly Roger Vivier clutch leaves her looking glamourous!

Anne Hathaway:

Just look at that signature smile! Its not a shocker that Anne Hathaway looks absolutely perfect in this white Chanel number. The short hair is a nice change from Anne’s usual long brown locks. With all the success her new movie Les Miserables had (in which she co-starred with numerous other A-list stars), it is clear this stunner will only be continuing to stun us all.

Jennifer Lawrence:

I can not help but compare this red Christian Dior Haute Couture dress to her 2011 Academy Award Calvin Klein dress. Yes, I’m aware they are 2 complete different styles and fits – but I just can’t help it. Its going to be pretty tough to top the 2011 look. Asides from that, I do feel this dress does not photograph well. I’m guessing the flash is making the material look a lot… cheaper that it is. What are your opinions?

Other stars worthy of a mention is Claire Danes (now a mom!) in a red Versace, Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ in a sweetheart Vera Wang  strapless and Jessica Chastian in a sea-foam halter Calvin Klein.
