Get the Look of 90210’s Annie Wilson

As I’m sure many of you already know, 90210 is a popular teen-series that follows the dramatic lives of a group of friends living in Beverly Hills. Currently going into its 5th season, fans and regular viewers would undoubtedly agree that 90210 is one of the most stylish shows on air thanks to the very talented wardrobe department. Unfortunately, not all of us have trust funds or inheritances and live in a giant Moroccan inspired mansions with extra money left over to throw overly lavish parties. So, I’m giving you the low-down on how to get each 90210 character’s style on a much more affordable budget.

To kick-start my Get the Look: 90210 edition, I’m starting with the girl who opened the show, Annie Wilson played by Canadian Actress Shenae Grimes. In the series premier “We’re not in Kansas anymore,” we meet Annie, an aspiring actress moving from Kansas to Beverly Hills with her family. Though she tries to maintain her naively sweet country-girl charm Annie finds herself swept into the dramatic world of backstabbing hos, a hit and run, psycho blackmailing bfs, prostitution scandals and sleeps with a hunk who wants to join the priesthood.

For the first few seasons little miss Kansas insists on boring and convincing viewers that just because you have no trust fund you can’t be stylish. I’m sorry if you felt differently but her wardrobe was less than impressive and inspiring. Just go to any American Eagle, Old Navy or GAP store and pick up some clothes there. At the end of season 3 with the death of Marla, Annie receives a large inheritance. By season 4, Annie transforms into a fashionista, I’m going to go so far as to say she’s the trendiest character on 90210. Let me defend my case.

  • Ivy Sullivan is the surfer chic, her style is effortless and very laidback Cali.
  • Erin Silvers has an “I wear what I want” policy, her style evolved from edgy to tailored vintage pieces and maxi dresses
  • Adrianna Tate Duncan‘s wardrobe is by far the girliest, she alternates between sundresses and vintage inspired skater-lined skirts. (unless she’s on stage rocking out in sequins and & leather)
  • Naomi Clark stands out in the group, her style oozes luxury, glamor, and sex. This is not to be confused with trendiness.

This season Annie hit all the key trends of the season. The mullet dresses, Peter Pan collars, peplum, tribal prints and of course the peekaboo midriff. So in order to get Annie’s new look you gotta stay on top of what’s in and what’s out. So study your fashion magazines and go to websites! (including secretsofagoodgirl)

Explore current trends with an open mind. Push hesitation and doubt aside, don’t think “I can’t pull it off.” It doesn’t hurt to try.  If the trend isn’t right for your body type no worries just tweak it, mix it up with another trend or simply move on to the next fad. After all fashion evolves through individuals personal touches and style.
