BEST NEWS EVER!! The wickedly funny Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have been locked as the hosts of the 70th annual Golden Globes. The SNL alums will be taking over the reins from British comedian Ricky Gervais who handled the award show for the past three years. Given Ricky’s controversial reviews, we cannot wait to see the kind of jokes these two funny ladies will be bringing this coming January.
This is, of course, not the first time the comedic geniuses have gotten together for our entertainment. Who can forget Tina and Amy’s work in Mean Girls? Or Baby Mama? But of course their friendship goes even further back than that, even further than their years as comedy legends on Saturday Night Live. The two originally met while performing at Chicago’s The Second City, where they honed their acting and writing chops.
The President of Alternative and Late Night Programming for NBC made a statement about their choice to have two hosts this year saying:
“Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year’s festivities is a major coup. Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together.”
With these two amazing ladies on board, the Golden Globes are sure to be a fantastic night! We can’t wait for the start of what’s sure to be an entertaining award season.
