It seems like rehab has become the go-to destination for young Hollywood stars these days.
Selena Gomez is the latest starlet to join the rehab club. The Former Disney Star went to a rehab program last month for some peace and therapy.
“Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows, but not for substance abuse,” confirmed the 21-year-old star’s rep.
The singer/actress checked into The Meadows in Arizona for two weeks for treatment in their DAWN program, which is targeted towards 18-26 year olds for substance dependence, trauma, family dynamics, mental health and relapse prevention.
Sources close to Selena told TMZ that the excessive partying lifestyle that Justin Bieber and his pals led took a heavy toll on her. Family and friends urged her to seek help for her out-of-control partying and alleged marijuana use.
The rehab stint followed Selena’s announcement in December that she was cancelling the Australian leg off her world tour.
“My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them,” she said in a statement. “But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.”
An insider told Us Weekly at the time, “She has been working nonstop for six years. She needs to take some time for herself. It was a very hard decision because she hates disappointing fans but she needs to focus on her for a bit. She wants to stay healthy.”
