Selena Gomez has her sights set on being an executive producer.
She will be adapting best-selling YA book 13 Reasons Why into a 13 episode miniseries for Netflix. Selena will not appear onscreen in the show.
The 2007 novel is about a high-school student named Hannah Baker who commits suicide and leaves a box of cassette tapes to her classmate Clay Jensen. On the tapes she explains the 13 reasons why she decided to end her life and Clay happens to be one of those reasons.
Selena read the book and she and her mother Mandy Teefey and producer Kristel Laiblin have decided to buy the rights to a screen adaptation.
According to Deadline, Selena has been keeping very busy. Her second studio album, Revival, was released earlier this month and she recently wrapped four films, including In Dubious Battle, The Revised Fundamentals Of Caregiving, The Big Short and Neighbors 2.
The “Good For You” singer even announced she will be going on tour with the album on May 9, 2016, starting in Las Vegas and going on to 40 other places.
