Canadian hunk Ryan Gosling is moving behind the camera to o direct his Drive co-star Christina Hendricks in How to Catch a Monster, a film he also wrote.
Ryan has proven that he’s more than a handsome face with his leading roles in The Notebook, Crazy, Stupid, Love, producer, musician and Oscar nominee. Now, the actor would like to add director to his resume.
How to Catch a Monster is described as a “fantasy noir.” It centers on a single mother of two, who is swept into a dark underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town.
The film will be looking for buyers at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and is set to begin production next year.
Marc Platt and Adam Siegel will produce on behalf of Marc Platt Productions, along with the actor’s Phantasma Films banner, and Michel Litvak and David Lancaster’s Bold Films banner. Sierra/Affinity will handle international sales for the film which will be made available to buyers for the first time at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. Principal photography for the film is scheduled to commence in the spring of 2013.
“I am very appreciative to Marc Platt, Adam Siegel and Bold Films for being so supportive and I look forward to making this film with all of them,” Ryan said in a statement.
