The biggest night of the year for the music industry is upon us with the 55th Grammy Awards! Singers like Adele, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Elton John and so many other artists came together for one night producing an amazing celebration with multiple exciting performances!
This night is not only known for the music performances but for pushing the boundaries when it comes to fashion. Let’s take a trip down memory lane with some of the craziest red carpet moments at the Grammys over the years.
Unfortunately with the rules this year, the fashion was more tamed than usual but the musicians managed to look like true celebrities with sparkles, sexy cut-outs and mermaid gowns.
Time and time again we comment on how Carrie Underwood rocked the red carpet and of course she didn’t disappoint us at the important event. She looked absolutely stunning in a dark, strapless, embroidered Roberto Cavalli masterpiece. The country singer paired the mermaid inspired design with a beautiful necklace, loose curls and smokey eyes.
Other celebs bringing the mermaid trend to the red carpet included Carly Rae Jepsen in a sparkling Roberto Cavalli gown, Kelly Rowland in an all black Georges Chakra Couture gown with numerous sheer cutouts and a tulle bottom and lastly Alicia Keys in a Azzedine Alaia dress with several cutouts as well.
Rihanna really surprised us in a divine red gown by Azzedine Alaia. We love the long train, sheer fabric and criss-cross pattern at the front beautifully showcasing the singers slim frame. Rihanna matched her lips and nails to her dress and styled her hair in long loose waves (circa 2005 with her debut album).
Adele took a break from black and opted for a red floral high neck and long sleeve Valentino dress and matching shoes. Although we adore the British singer, we don’t think this is one of her best looks.
Jennifer Lopez chose a risky Anthony Vaccarello piece. The fun design showed a whole lot of skin. She even brought the ‘Angelina’ to the red carpet with the bare leg and stance. A top knot hairdo, smokey eyes and gold accessories finished off the look.
After her killer Superbowl performance, we were hoping Beyonce would show up in an equally hot ensemble. Unfortunately she arrived at the event in a black and white pantsuit instead. The OSMAN by Osman Yousefzada design was kept simple with a ponytail, red lips, Swarovski clutch and open toe Jimmy Choo’s.
Katy Perry showed off her bod in a skin tight Gucci gown. The mint green dress featured a rather large cut-out and an embroidered décolletage.
Taylor Swift continued her angelic streak in a cream colored J. Mendel gown with silver detailing. With her hair pinned back, the 22-year-old allowed the dress to garner the attention it deserved. The young star even admitted to doing her own manicure the night before.
Florence Welch of Florence & the Machine went all green in a custom designed Givenchy gown. The shiny dress featured spikes and a high slit. It also came with matching shoes and clutch.
