The designer duo, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, may have won the Designer of the Year Award at the CFDA Fashion Awards in June but there is one group not impressed by their latest collection. Peta, an American animal rights group, is not happy with the Olsen twin’s decision to use animal pelts for their newest backpack. The group is not only hating on the label’s latest bag but even has a portion of their website set up in the Olsen’s honour called the “Trollsen Twins.”
“What the Olsens lack in creativity, they try to make up in shock value,” the group stated Eonline.com.
Not only is the backpack made of animal fur but set to sell at $17,000 which is not bad when you consider the alligator version sells for $34,000.
Although Peta has been bashing them for some time now, fellow fashion designer, Rachel Zoe, is a fan of the backpack describing it as “a pre-fall staple that combines both ‘comfort and class'” on her blog.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen started the fashion line, The Row, in 2007. Their website affirms the label’s devotion to “clean lines, fine fabrics and the perfect fit.”
