Black Swan actress Natalie Portman is set to play Jackie Kennedy in a new drama movie entitled Jackie after Darren Aronofsky and Rachel Weisz dropped out of the project.
She is wanted to for the iconic role of the late First Lady , Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, which will focus on what happened in the immediate aftermath of the assassination of her husband, US President John F. Kennedy, in November 1963.
According to Deadline, director Darren Aronofsky and Rachel Weisz – who previously dated from 2002 to 2010 – were planning to make the film when they were a couple but Darren, who worked with Natalie on Black Swan, dropped out of creating the motion picture when the pair split and she has since left the project too.
Rachel previously said: ”It’s a very beautiful script. I think it’s the four or five days after the assassination and how [Jackie] deals with the assassination and the funeral. It’s not a biopic. Its about that short period of time.”
Katie Holmes and Sarah Michelle Gellar are among a number of stars to have previously played Jackie when they took on the role in mini-series The Kennedys and A Woman Named Jackie.
