Miley Cyrus really stood out at the AmfAR LA Inspiration Gala at Milk Studios in Hollywood last Wednesday. Not only did the songstress wear a scandalous dress, she also donated half a million dollars to help fight AIDS research.
According to thehollywoodgossip.com, Miley spent $300,000 on a print of a naked woman by photographer Ryan McGinley (after getting into bidding war with Rihanna and Tom Ford) and then also donated another $200,000 on her own.
“I’m a little drunk,” confessed Miley, who paid tribute to the night’s honoree by wearing a black Tom Ford dress with a sheer top and crisscrossed sequined straps. “That’s why I’m a half-million deep.”
However, Miley was able to get serious behind her reasons for supporting AIDS research.
“If I’m going to have a voice I would like to start an open dialogue about prevention and awareness and how people in the world have been affected by HIV and AIDS. I could break down people’s walls that have been built up around sexuality. I’m obviously not too embarrassed to talk about these things, especially with young people.”
With the help of Miley’s generous donation, the fifth annual event, which was also attended by Rihanna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Justin Timberlake and other celebrities, raised about $3 million for the American Foundation for AIDS Research, according to Variety.
