Lana Del Rey has revealed that she and longtime boyfriend Barrie-James O’Neill have split.
“We are currently not together,” the 28-year-old singer allegedly told a German media outlet when asked to confirm rumors that she’d gotten engaged to him. “He is a wonderful person. But there are some things with which he has to deal. I will not explain it in detail. This was hard on our relationship. I no longer felt free. We’ll see how it goes.”
Barrie-James – who is a member of Scottish band Kassidy – was reported to have proposed on the singer’s 27th birthday, June 21, 2013.
Although one year later the romance is off, Lana has mentioned in past interviews, she hasn’t ruled out settling down with someone in the future and having children with them.
In an interview two years ago, Lana said her song “Off to the Races” had been inspired by the Scottish singer.
She said, ”When I found somebody who I fell in love with, it made me feel different than I felt the rest of the day. It was electrifying.”
According to E!News, the “Summertime Sadness” singer has not addressed her reported split via Twitter. Instead, she’s been promoting her third album, Ultraviolence which dropped June 16. She has also used the social media platform to clarify comments she made in The Guardian, and to apologize to Frances Bean Cobain, who accused her of glamorizing death.
