This has not been a good month for celebrity couples. First Jason Segel and Michelle Williams (still hurting over this one) then Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen. Now a lesser known comedy couple has also decided to call it quits. She’s Out of Your League actor Jay Baruchel and The Newsroom‘s Allison Pill have ended their two year engagement.
The couple both hail from Canada and met on the set of Goon in 2010, before quickly getting engaged. The pair had planned to wed in September 2012, but had previously pushed the nuptials back. In February 2012, Jay described their plans for the big day:
“We’re getting married at an ice wine vineyard. Me and the groomsmen will all be wearing kilts! We’ll be welcomed in by uilleann pipers. It will be a very small, 70 person wedding, just friends and family.”
Of course September has long passed, and the couple were still unmarried. Even so, Jay seemed optimistic that the two would eventually become husband and wife. In an interview given just last month Jay explained the delay:
“Unfortunately, we’re two busy people who are intrinsically lazy. So in our free time, the last thing we want to do is book flights and organize hotel rooms for people. But it’ll happen at some point.”
Perhaps that intrinsic laziness was the cause for the break up? It would appear that Allison was the one to finally call the whole thing off, as evidenced in a few of Jay’s tweets. We imagine she may have grown tired of waiting. In a few tweets that were eventually deleted, Jay spoke out about the relationship’s demise:
“Alone again, naturally. Heartbroken.”
“I won’t be on twitter for awhile gang. Getting dumped rules.”
Sounds to us like someone is not taking heart break too well. We hope these two find happiness in the future!
