The 2012 MTV Movie Awards is where Russell Brand can poke fun at his ex-wife Katy Perry, Johnny Depp can play guitar with The Black Keys, Josh Hutcherson and Alexander Ludwig are on stage together and Charlie Sheen makes a guest appearance.
The 2012 MTV Movie Awards did not disappoint with fans from all over the globe tuning in to see their favourite stars like Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Channing Tatum, Elizabeth Banks and plenty more hot celebs.
Russell Brand hosted the show and opened with a few jokes about Justin Bieber and his paparazzi scuffle, Charlie Sheen’s drug use, digs at ex-wife Katy Perry and much more raunchiness. No topic was off bounds for this British comedian.
The odds were certainly in favour of The Hunger Games winning a total of four awards including Best Male and Best Female Performance, Best Fight and Best On-Screen Transformation. Josh Hutchson, Alexander Ludwig and Elizabeth Banks were there to accept the awards in person, while Jennifer Lawrence thanked fans from the set of her new movie in Prague. The actress was thrilled to win the award.
”I want to thank [author] Suzanne Collins for creating such an iconic, powerful character in Katniss Everdeen. It’s been such an honor to portray her and have audiences around the world embrace this movie.”
Johnny Depp was honoured with the MTV Generation Award. Not only did he accept the award from music legends Steve Tyler and Joe Perry from Aerosmith, but he also rocked out on guitar with upcoming legends The Black Keys.
“I’ve got to thank MTV for this. This is quite an amazing honor, truly. It’s like the Get-Out-Of-The-Business Award.”
Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 was also a big winner taking home Best Kiss and Movie Of The Year Award presented by Jodie Foster. Although Robert Pattinson wasn’t there to accept the fourth Best Kiss he and Kristen Stewart have won, the Twilight actress turned her back to the crowd and mimed a hot make-out session with herself.
The rest of the Twilight cast including Taylor Lautner accepted the golden popcorn with huge smiles and thanked the fans and author and producer Stephanie Meyer for their continued support and to stay tuned for Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part II in November.
