Showstopper Demi Lovato is officially the latest member to join the Glee Season 5 cast. The singer will have a major arc in the fifth season of the show, according to TVLine.com.
Demi will play a character called Dani who is a New York-based struggling artist who becomes a friend to Rachel (Lea Michele) and Santana (Naya Rivera). She’ll also have frequent interactions with Adam Lambert’s mysterious character, details of whom are being kept under wraps.
The deal will require Demi to appear in at least six episodes of the forthcoming season, starting with the October 3rd episode that pays tribute to the music of The Beatles.
The casting marks the latest example of synergy with Glee’s Thursday night companions and the show’s first casting since the death of star Cory Monteith on July 13.
Demi, who released her self-titled fourth studio album in May, will mark Glee as her return to acting since her television show Sonny with a Chance ended in 2011.
