Vampire Diaries favorite bad boy, Ian Somerhalder, has been chosen as cover boy of the month!
Ian Joseph Somerhalder was born on December 8th 1978 in Covington, Louisiana. He started out as a model at only 10 years of age and went on to model for designers such as Guess , Versace, Gucci and Calvin Klein. He quit modeling to pursue acting around the age of 17.
His first major role was on the hit show Lost as Boone Carlyle. He was the first actor cast on the show as well as the first to be cut off.
As if his bright blue eyes and sly grin aren’t enough, he’s a major activist for several organizations as well. He is a devoted animal lover and currently a supporter of the St. Tammany Humane Society. The 33 year-old actor is even in the process of opening up a sanctuary in Louisiana for animals with behavioral problems. Ian Somerhalder is also dedicated to eco-friendly products and cleaning up the environment. Last but not least, the handsome actor is an advocate of the It Gets Better organization focusing on LGBT youth.
In 2011 the animal rights advocate won the Wyler Award at The Genesis Awards. The award is given to an actor who displays concern for animals and showcases public awareness through the media.
Rumors have been flying around that he is being considered for the role of Christian Grey for the Fifty Shades trilogy. Do you think he would make the perfect Christian? He does look good in a suit.
In 2009 Ian Somerhalder was cast as Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries. After 3 seasons it’s safe to say he is a bad boy we all love to hate. The hot love triangle between him, Elena and Stefan Salvatore continues to grow and leaves us questioning Elena’s frustrating decisions during every episode.
Thankfully in real life co-star Nina Dobrev doesn’t need to be told twice. The couple has been dating since 2010.
Along with filming new episodes for the hit CW show he is also working on a new film project, Time Framed. The actor recently opened up a gourmet pizza parlor with his sister and a furniture shop with his brother where they sell what they make.
Who will follow in his footsteps? Choose wisely!
