If the world had any reservations about Tom Cruise’s clear descent into insanity, the latest issue of Vanity Fair will change that. The October issue of the magazine provides the story of the strange audition process the church of Scientology held before Cruise’s marriage to Katie Holmes. In it Vanity Fair reporter Maureen Orth discovered that:
“In 2004 Scientology embarked on a top-secret project headed by Shelly Miscavige, wife of Scientology chief David Miscavige, which involved finding a girlfriend for Tom Cruise.”
The audition process involved several actresses who were already practicing Scientologists who were asked to screen test for a new training film. They were then asked various questions regarding their religion as well as, curiously, “What do you think of Tom Cruise?” Quickly into the process an actress, Nazanin Boniadi, was the clear front-runner. Before she began her 3-month romance with Mr. Cruise, she underwent an extremely intrusive auditing which included:
“A process in which she told a high-ranking Scientology official her innermost secrets and every detail of her sex life. Boniadi allegedly was told to lose her braces, her red highlights, and her boyfriend.”
Soon enough, Boniadi realized that she was being groomed as the next wife of Tom Cruise. They began dating immediately upon their first meeting in November of 2004, and almost as suddenly Cruise began to complain about any and all of her faults to members of his Scientology staff. For each complaint she would be audited. The relationship came to a head when Boniadi appeared to have disrespected the chief, David Miscavige, by asking him to repeat himself once when he spoke too quickly for her to understand.
Upon the break up, Ms. Boniadi was not even granted the respect of a personal conversation with Mr. Cruise. Instead she was asked to leave the home she had been sharing with him by an official of the church. She was only told that Cruise wanted someone with her own power in Hollywood, like Nicole Kidman had, or apparently like Katie Holmes.
After their break up, Ms. Boniadi unfortunately broke her confidentiality agreement when she spoke of her relationship with Cruise to another member of the church. She was then sent to a Scientology center in Florida where she was punished and made to scrub toilets with a toothbrush, clean bathroom tiles, and dig ditches during the middle of the night. Numerous members of the Scientology church have confirmed the story, most of whom have since defected.
If this isn’t enough proof that Tom Cruise is a crazy person, and that Katie Holmes is lucky to have gotten out of that marriage, I’m not sure what else could convince you.
